Overview
The Comprehensive Center for Fanconi Anemia at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a highly motivated, full time cytogenetic technician to work in a clinical and research laboratory focusing on Fanconi Anemia. The individual will be involved in the diagnosis of this rare genetic disease. Major responsibilities will be the coordinating and testing of patient samples for diagnosis by a chromosomal instability test.

Responsibilities
The Cytogenetic Technicians oversee the preparation of solutions, harvesting cultures, processing samples, and microscopy. They will work independently and be responsible for processing tissues or cell lines for cytogenetic studies, and breakage analysis. The technician will be required to do cell culture, harvesting of cells for chromosomes, preparation of solutions, data entry, slide making, and possess sterile technique, as well as basic laboratory skills. They will be required to record test results, maintain laboratory equipment, and perform cytogenetic procedures including tissue culture.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in biological sciences required.
- Experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in chromosome analysis, cytogenetics and molecular biology preferred.
- CLSP(GC) certification preferred.
- Training in OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, Advanced Fire/Safety, Infection Control and Departmental Safety are required annually
- Must have the ability to work independently, as well as multitask and be very organized.
